Stephen has been going to Maranatha Baptist University for 2 and ½ years as a Pastoral Studies major with a minor in Business Management. He joined the Air Force through the Air National Guard base in Milwaukee a bit over two years ago. This has given him some unique opportunities, such as having to sit out from college for a little over a year because he was stationed in San Antonio, Texas. After college and my time in the military, he desired to be a preacher of a church in the states or abroad. This is his first time being a counselor at a Christian camp, but he has gained leadership experience through the military. He grew up camping, backpacking, hiking, fishing, and hunting with his grandpa. These have been major activities of his life growing up and are areas that he loves. He also grew up attending Christian camps, and they have shaped his life and goals in many ways. He views this as a fantastic way to give back to God and looks forward to camp this summer!

Camp ministry has had a great impact on Dan in his own discipleship experience and in his years as a youth pastor. His early experiences as a camper confronted some of the spiritual lethargy in his life as a teen and motivated him to yield his life to service to teens and adults. As a youth pastor, camp ministry was an essential discipleship tool for ministering to the hearts of teens. Dan believes that this “confrontation with truth” is especially important for young men as the distractions of this world system are so very real. It is exciting to work together as a ministry team in exhorting our campers to “act like men”, godly men. (Acts 16:13-14)
As we pursue blending a passion for adventure with a passion for God, Dan gives direction to our discipleship program. Dan plans the preaching and devotional ministry of camp and trains and leads our counselor team. Truth is boldly declared, lived out by grace, and embraced in the context of loving relationships, relationships that are developed in the experiences of daily adventure. Dan is the king of the pyramid challenge, weekend camp cookouts, and the ping pong table. Andy is the "quartermaster" and logistics personnel of WildHeart Adventure Camp. He procures and maintains all of the gear equipment and supplies that are used for the various activities of camp. Andy also helps to lead some of the week long camping, hiking, and canoeing trips that we take during the summer with WildHeart and during the school year with Victory Academy. During camp, he leads some of the "challenge" activities and teaches some of our outdoor training lessons such as orienteering and blade safety.
Camp Ministry has been a big part of Ben's life since he was a teenager. While in high school, he began to work at a small, Christian camp in the mountains of North Carolina. The mission of this camp eventually defined his own personal purpose in camp ministry. Offering completely free weeks of camp, the camp had the opportunity to minister to children and teens that would not normally have the opportunity to attend summer camp. He had the opportunity to experience, for the first time in his life, the hardships with which some families struggle. He became aware of the relational carnage that was an everyday part of their lives. For many of the children that attended camp, they were mainly recipients of this carnage. However, he did see an active, personal role that older children and teenagers had in the dysfunction of their homes.
WildHeart Adventure Camp is a tremendous outreach. He loves taking young men to explore the North Woods of Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan. Our campers have the opportunity to engage in outdoor activities in which they would never or rarely have participated. It is through these new experiences, that we have the opportunity to show them our Creator God who loves them. Using the tools of the outdoors, Ben's mission is to share God’s Word with our campers in a way that is fresh and clear. Mark has a life of experience outdoors. He has over 20 years of experience facilitating top-rope rock climbing and rappelling. Mark loves everything water and gained his first canoe guide experience in 1977 at age 11. Each year he has led our 30-mile whitewater canoe trip down the Flambeau River. He has logged and led several canoe trips to Quetico Provincial Park in Canada, kayaked the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior, and spent an unreasonable number of nights backpacking and camping under the stars in remote areas of the West and Midwest.
Providing safe adventure programming gives us a platform on which to build redemptive relationships. Real relationships allow us to do the Ephesians 4:15 ministry of wrapping the Truth in Love. It is the Truth of God, put forth in His Word, and carried forward by God’s Spirit that will impact kids’ hearts for eternity. Tim graduated from Maranatha Baptist Univerity in 2017 with his bachelor’s degree in Missions, and he is currently earning credits toward his Master of Divinity at Bob Jones University. After earning his bachelor’s degree, Tim’s desire to practically apply his education led him to intern with Victory Academy for Boys and, subsequently, to work as a counselor for WildHeart. Tim has also served as a camp counselor at the Wilds in North Carolina and Camp Raphayada, a camp for missionary kids and English students in Japan. Tim is looking forward to experiencing the beauty of God’s creation and seeing how God works in hearts this summer with Wildheart.
