We went canoeing. After the second day my legs were sunburnt, only on the inside, from lack of variation in leg placement. Along the trip we, my canoe buddy and I, got to bond over a shared fascination in Disney. We had an opportunity on our last afternoon to go through the rapids, that we will start the next day with, a few times. On the last day of canoeing we went over/through the biggest rapid of the trip. My boat did not flip but did take on a lot of water. Friday we did activities with the guys and their dads. I was in charge of loading and throwing skeet. Later we went white water rafting. This week the chapels focused on "hands". Everyone is a leader because everyone has influence to some degree. The question then becomes are you going to lead the correct way, the scriptural way.

We hiked along the pictured rocks trail. The scenery was gorgeous. Almost everyday we had a chance to have fun in lake superior. I turned 21 Thursday. Being a slow person I tended to be at the back of the group, but I got to have plenty of time to converse and listen to the guys trapped behind me. This week the chapel theme was "heart", or rather belief. What do you believe and ultimately how that effects literally everything else we think, do, and feel.
This week we found out our teams and learned camping basics. Things like fire building, knife safety, orienteering just to name a few. We also did the obstacle course as a team. At camp we built a tripod, a table, and a fence (which is still standing). The chapel theme was "head". We discussed worldview, how one views the world. More specifically we talked about our worldview and if it stands on good authority.
Roland was saved at the age of 8, but he didn't understand that it was more than a "get out of hell free card" until he was given the opportunity in 11th grade to teach a youth class. His desire to counsel started in around the same time. After his first year of college at Bob Jones University, he decided to officially pursue a counseling degree. He is now a junior and looks forward to how God might use him. He has no previous counseling or official camping experience, but he is excited to draw upon the experience of growing up in the woods.
